Floyd Raymond Dage, 93, of Baxter died Tuesday, May 20, 2014, at the Baxter Health Care Center.
He was born Sept. 10, 1920, in Hancock, Minn., to Percy and Myrtle Dage. Floyd was the forth child out of five children. Floyd stayed in Minnesota till he was 18 years old, then he was drafted into the Army where he spent the next three and half years serving his country in World War II.
Floyd married Evelyn Rainer on July 28, 1946. They were married for 40 years and they had five children, Sandra Rae, Pamela Ann, Earl Franklin, Nancy Lee and Lester Leroy. Floyd spent many years as a farmer and was employed by Maytag which he retired from after 28 plus years. Floyd has 12 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. Later on in Floyd’s life he married Eleanor Konkel on Aug. 19, 1988. They spent their lives in Kansas until Eleanor passed away, then Floyd moved back to Iowa to be with his family. After Floyd retired he enjoyed fishing, cooking, and making things which we’ve all seen his creations of PVC pipe and duck tape.
Floyd is preceded in death by his parents, Percy and Myrtle; brothers, Harold, Lawrence and Gilbert; sons, Lester and Frank; wives, Evelyn and Eleanor. He is survived by his sister Bessie Springer of Ottumwa; daughters, Sandra (Phil) Pearson of Newton, Pamela (Roger) Small of Kellogg, Nancy Dage of Newton; and his many grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, May 23, at Sinnott Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Albia. Burial with military rites conducted by the American Legion of Albia, Lovilia and Melrose will follow services in Oakview Cemetery. Visitation will he from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the Sinnott Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Albia.
