Gerald James Trotter, the son of Arthur E. and Marjorie Louise (Gooding) McMahon, was born June 24, 1946, in Newton, Iowa. He graduated from the Newton Senior High School with the class of 1964.

On April 20, 1968, Gerry was united in marriage with Linda Dianne Van Veen in Newton, Iowa. Gerry served his country in the United States Air Force. He worked for the Maytag Company in Newton for 33.5 years, retiring as a Supervisor from Automatic. Gerry enjoyed Corvettes, fishing, hunting and his trips to Canada. He was a former member of the Corvette Club of Iowa.

Gerry died on Friday, May 15, 2014, at Skiff Medical Center in Newton. He was 67 years old. Gerry was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Linda, on Nov. 13, 2013, and a sister, Sharon Day.

Those left to honor Gerry’s memory include his son Todd (Kari Dietch) Trotter of Newton; his daughter, Amiee (John) Quick of Kellogg; his three grandchildren, Chelsea Anderson, Mitch Anderson and Garrett Quick; his sisters, Krisan (Roger) Partridge of Arizona and Tess Tagle of Texas and his faithful companion, Abby.

Visitation with the family will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 20, at the Pence-Reese Funeral Home in Newton. No service is planned. Memorials may be designated in Gerald’s name and may be left at the funeral home. ~ The Newton Daily News, Newton, Iowa.
