Gieula Freda Morgan, 87, of Newton, died on Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2009, at Skiff Medical Center in Newton.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 26, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton. The family will greet friends from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday, at the funeral home. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 26, at the Garden Grove Cemetery in Garden Grove.
Memorials in Gieula’s name may be left at the funeral home.
The daughter of Guy and Maude (Hill) McCullough, she was born on July 28, 1922, in Garden Grove. She grew up in Garden Grove and later moved to Newton in 1949.
Gieula worked in the factory at the Maytag Company for 30 years, retiring in 1982.
Survivors include one daughter, Kathy Hackathorn of Newton; one son, Tom Morgan of Newton; three grandsons, Chris Morgan of Ft. Collins, Colo., Ryan Hackathorn and Adam Hackathorn, both of Newton; six great-grandchildren; and one brother, Ivan McCullough of Russell.
Gieula was preceded in death by her parents; husband, George Morgan in 1981; two sisters, Eileen Smith and Lois Orfield; and a grandson, Michael Hackathorn in 2007.
