Robert J. “Bob” McNeer, 86, of rural Newton died on Thursday, May 3, 2012, at his home in rural Newton.
Private family graveside services were on Friday, May 4, at the Newton Union Cemetery in Newton.
Bob was a graduate of St. Marys High School in St. Marys, Iowa, in 1943. He worked at the Maytag Company for 30 years. He was a maintenance foreman at the time of retirement in July of 1976. He also owned and operated McNeer Satellite and had owned and operated McNeer Greenhouse for 19 years.
Survivors include his children, Linda (Scott) Miller of Tierra Verde, Fla., and Joe McNeer of Toronto, Canada; three grandsons, Christy, Robert and David Annis; his three brothers, Jim McNeer, Charles McNeer, and John McNeer, all of Newton; his two sisters, Theresa Clark and Mary Ellen Juett, both of Newton; many nieces and nephews; and longtime friends, Keith and Joyce Simpson of Newton.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Rose Ann in 2010; and sister, Patricia Woody.
