Obituary
Margaret Fern Smith, age 87 of Des Moines and formerly of Colfax, died Wednesday, April 9, 2014, at St. Lukes Hospital in Kansas City. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Saturday April 12, 2012, at 10:30AM at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Colfax. Burial will take place at Sunset Memorial Garden in Des Moines. Memorials may be directed to the Margaret F. Smith Memorial Fund and condolences may be left for the family at www.coburnfuneralhomes.com.

The daughter of Willard and Mable Morris, Margaret was born on January 11, 1927, in Sigourney. On June 9, 1945, she was united in marriage to Charles J. Smith. The couple had 9 children. Margaret was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great-great grandmother to her very large family. Margaret was a long time member of All Saints Parish in Des Moines and she devoted her life to the loving care of her family. Margaret was an avid reader and enjoyed sewing, puzzles and spending time with family.

She was preceded in death by her son Daniel and her loving husband Charles. She is survived by her children; Michael (Terry), James (Nicki), Daniel's widow Margo, Gregory (Nancy), Theresa (John) Maybrier, Kathleen Smith (Steve), and Elizabeth (Terry) Anthony, Thomas (Casey), Timothy (Silvia).

Also surviving are sisters, Alberta Brannen, Phyllis Zeimet and Carol Rouse, and lovingly by her many grandchildren. ~ The Coburn Funeral Home, Colfax, Iowa.
