Services Held For Jennie Taylor, 103

Funeral services for Jennie Plumb Taylor, 103, a resident of Colonial Manor in Baxter for 9 years, were held Monday, October 30, at the United Church of Ira.

Don Carlson, lay pastor of the church, conducted services. Burial was in Restland Cemetery in Baxter.

Jean Akins was the organist. Pallbearers were Duane Taylor, Gail Taylor, Bill Pierce, Mike Pierce, Bill Lane, and Stanley Lane.

Memorial contributions to the church may be left at Boyd-Davis Funeral Home in Baxter.

She died Friday, Oct. 27, at the Mercy Hospital Medical Center in Des Moines.

Survivors are a son, Vern, of Fayette, Mo.; two daughters, Eva Pierce of North Bend, Wash., and Florence Lane of Mingo; 30 grand-children; 71 great-grandchildren; and 43 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph, in 1955, three sons, a daughter, three great-grandchildren, four sisters and three brothers.

Mrs. Taylor, a member of the United Church of Ira, and her husband farmed in the Baxter and Ira areas.

The daughter of William and Lora Shepley Plumb, she was born June 3, 1886 near Baxter and was raised in Clyde.

She was married to Joseph M. Taylor Sept. 14, 1906 in Newton. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News Thurs 2 Nov 1989.
