Donald Dean Hartnett, age 83 of Prairie City, passed away on July 10, 2013. He was born in Newton on May 16, 1930.
A celebration of life was held on Monday, July 15, at the P.A.R.C. Event Center, in Pleasant Hill. A remembrance service followed.
At age 16, Don started working for Hoak Construction Company and worked there for 36 years. He then worked for MidAmerican Energy until his retirement in 1997. He loved being around animals, especially watching and feeding the many birds in his yard; he also loved working and being outdoors.
Don is survived by his wife of 48 years, Janet; children, Deborah (Don) Teeguarden of Addy, WA, Catherine (Jon) Ackelson of Altoona, Thomas (Mari) Moore of Springfield, VA, Julie (Scott) Foster and Timothy Hartnett, all of Pleasant Hill; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
