Obituary
Glasgow, John Andrew 84, of Scottsdale, AZ, died peacefully on February 26, 2014. He was born February 7, 1930, in Leaksville, N.C., the son of Andrew and Eileen (Vinson) Glasgow. John is survived by his two sons, John R. and Michael of Scottsdale; brother Ted Illingworth (Nancy) and sister Benna Fisher both of Newton Iowa; and nieces , nephews and many cousins. He is predeceased by his wife Mabel and his parents.

John attended school in Newton, Iowa and graduated from high school in Eldon, Iowa. He served in the Navy for 22 years before retiring as a Senior Chief Petty Officer in 1969. He was awarded the Medal for Humane Action for service during the Berlin Airlift.

After retiring from the Navy, John was a letter carrier in Massillon, Ohio before transferring to Scottsdale in 1977 where he retired in 1991. John was a member of the Fleet Reserve Association Branch 163, National Association of Letter Carriers Branch 1902, U.S. Naval Cryptologic Veterans Association and the American Legion. Although he did not attend Arizona State University, John was an obsessive Sun Devil Fan.

A memorial service will held at Messinger Indian School Mortuary Chapel on Friday, March 7, 2014 at 11:30 a.m with internment at the National Memorial Cemetery - See more at: http://www.legacy.com/obituaries ~ The Des Moines Register Legacy, Des Moines, Iowa.
