Julie A. Peterson, 43, of Newton died on Friday, March 7, 2014, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 5, at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Newton. The family will greet friends after the service with a lunch at the church. Memorials in Julie’s name may be left at the church the day of the service or at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory.

Julie, the daughter of Ron and Jean (Hielsberg) Johnson, was born on July 22, 1970, in Neenah, Wis. At the age of 5, Julie moved to Arizona where she grew up and graduated from high school. In 2000, she moved to Iowa. Julie worked at Village Cleaners in Newton and later at Target in Altoona. Julie enjoyed country music, reading and watching Indy Cars. She also loved animals, especially horses.

Julie is survived by her children, Valerie and Ian Peterson of Newton; mother, Jean Burchell of Newton; father, Ron Johnson of Fouke, Arkansas; her brothers, John (Darlene) Johnson and Jeff (Ilyse) Johnson, both of Phoenix, Arizona; special friend, Patty Stephens of California; and her aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News.
