Those left to celebrate Loren's memory are his two sisters, Ardelle Morgan of Altoona, and Veralea Buchanan of Newton; his sister-in-law, Beverly Nearmyer of Newton; many nieces and nephews, and special family friends, the Ryther families. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Louise in 2009; twin brother, Lawrence “Buck” Nearmyer in 2001; brothers-in-law, Raymond Morgan, Dick Buchanan, and Larry Blom.

Loren was a farmer and had farmed in rural Newton for many years. He was a member of the Jasper County Farm Bureau, and the Sunday Morning Breakfast Group at the Midtown, and was a past member of the Palo Alto Grange.

Loren enjoyed being with his family and friends, farming, and he had enjoyed traveling with his wife, Louise.
