Lena Mae Lambert, 84, of Monroe passed away on Friday, Feb. 28, 2014, at Skiff Medical Center in Newton.

A funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 4, at Coburn Funeral Home, with burial following at Silent City Cemetery. The family will greet friends following the service at Monroe American Legion. Memorials may be directed to the Monroe Fire Department and condolences may be left for the family at www.coburnfuneralhomes.com.

The daughter of Charles C. and Millie (Kingery) Bailey, Lena was born on July 17, 1929, in Marion County, Iowa. On Jan. 28, 1950, she was united in marriage to Nelson O. Lambert in Knoxville. Lena enjoyed collecting beautiful porcelain dolls and teddy bears. She also enjoyed playing cards with her family, watching NASCAR, especially Jeff Gordon and fishing. Lena’s greatest joy was spending time with her family.

Those left to honor her memory include her children, James (Zita) Lambert of Kellogg, Joseph (Joann) Lambert of Knoxville, Janice (Robert) Leinen of North English, Iowa and Linda (David) Donahue of Monroe; nine grandchildren, Stacie, Brandie, Jacob, Kelsie, David, Desiree’, Kyle, Kayla and Chris and 11 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her siblings, Harold Baily of Knoxville, James (Jackie) Bailey of Knoxville, Marion (Arville) Bailey of Knoxville and Marvin (Lorraine) Bailey of Iowa City, a sister-in-law, Carrole Lambert of Washington and several nieces and nephews.
