Arie Ver Steeg, Former Galesberg Resident, Dies

Galesburg – Arie Ver Steeg, 78, of Pella, a former longtime Galesburg area farmer, died Tuesday at the Pella community Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 10 o’clock Friday morning at the Pella Garden Chapel.

The Rev. Wayne Hall, pastor of the Pella trinity reformed Church, will conduct services. Burial will be in the Oakwood Cemetery in Pella.

Survivors are his daughter, Mrs. Roy (Verda Nadene) Vander Beek of Pella; a grandson; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Don (Elizabeth) Oliver and Mrs. Harry (Ann) Zickel, both of Newton, and three brothers, Harry A. Ver Steeg of Knoxville, John Ver Steeg of Monroe.

He was preceded in death by his wife Feb. 15, 1977, two brothers and a sister.

Mr. Ver Steeg also had been employed at the Pella Community Nursing Home for a number of years.

The son of Art and Elizabeth Dunnick Ver Steeg, he was born June 26, 1896 at Galesburg.

He was married to Iva Mae Zickel Nov. 24, 1920 at Newton.

Mr. Ver Steeg was a member of the Christian Church at Galesburg and attended the Pella Trinity Reformed Church.
