Bonnie Vandehaar, 92, of Mitchellville, passed away August 2, 2013 at the Comfort House in Pella, Iowa. Visitation will be held at the Coburn Funeral Home in Colfax where friends may call after 3 p.m. Monday, August 5, 2013 and the family will be present from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, August 6, 2013 at the Mitchellville United Methodist Church, of which she was an active member. Burial will be at Mitchellville Cemetery.

The daughter of John T. and Margaret K. (Jess) Bale. Bonnie was born December 12, 1920 in Ira, Iowa. She was a 1938 graduate of Colfax High School. She was united in marriage to Oren Vandehaar on March 1, 1949 at Colfax. A member of Mitchellville United Methodist Church, she was active on church boards, as a sunday school teacher, and an active member of United Methodist Women.

She is survived by her two daughters and sons in law: Linda and Gordon Klemp of Kansas City, MO, and Jane and Dennis Dingeman of Pella, a son and daughter in law, James and Pamela Vandehaar of Coppell, TX, six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and a sister Juanita Thomas of Healdsburg, CA. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and a sister.

The family has designated that memorials be donated to the Mitchellville Public Library, Mitchellville United Methodist Women - mission projects and/or Comfort House of Pella. Following the interment the family invites everyone to the Mitchellville Community Center for a time of food and fellowship. ~ The Coburn Funeral Home, Colfax, Iowa. Thurs 8 Aug 2013
