Mr. and Mrs. John Hedges received the message Thursday from the American Consul in London, England, stating that their youngest son, Elven Hedges, 42 years died of cerebral hemorrhage in the Bi-cetre hospital, May 2, 1931. Burial was in the Bi-cetre cemetery at Seme, France. He sent his parents some presents and some money in 1930 and they were expecting him home in 1931. When they didn't hear they sent an inquiry.

Elven Hedges was born in Whitman County, Washington, October 25, 1888. He lived on a farm west of Baxter with his parents and later at Colfax where he went to school.

He and his older brother Fred went to New York City and in 1911 went to London, England to introduce rag time music.

Elven was a piano player and appeared in concert before the English King it was reported. Mr. and Mrs. Hedges spent 1912-1914 in England with their boys. The boys came back to New York with them and spent six months and this was the last time their parents saw them. They returned to London and played in England, France and East Africa. Fred died in England in 1920 and it was six months before the word reached home folk. In 1917, Elven married a French girl, Blanche De-Camp and they have a daughter Marjory aged 13 years who attends a convent school in Paris. His Grandma, Mrs. Lucinda Vernon of Oregon, other relatives and friends sympathize with the parents who are 71 and 66 years of age and have lost all four of their children. ~ The Colfax Tribune, Thurs 25 Feb 1932
