Grinnell - Eugene G. Freeborn, 79, of Grinnell, a machinist and supervisor at the Maytag Company for 38 years and owner of the freeborn Motel in Grinnell, died of a heart attack, Thursday, Dec. 30, at Iowa Methodist Medical center in Des Moines.

Funeral services will be Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell. Burial will be at Hazelwood Cemetery in Grinnell. Military honors will be conducted by the Grinnell Veterans Ceremonial Unit.

Friends may call at the funeral home after noon Wednesday where family will be present from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Memorial to Hazelwood Cemetery's landscaping fund will be accepted. ~ Newspaper unknown, possibly The Des Moines Register or The Newton (IA) Daily News.
