Clarence L. Dow

Clarence L. How, 59, of Newton died at Skiff Medical Center in Newton, Sunday, July 2 of cancer.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 AM today at our Savior Lutheran Church with pastor Carl Leuders, assistant pastor at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Marshalltown, officiating. Burial was at Newton Memorial Park.

Memorials may be made to the Hospice of Jasper County, the Jasper County Loan Closet, or our Savior Lutheran Church.

Born April 20, 1941 in Newton, he was a son of Ernest and Ruby McCumber Dow. He was in 1959 graduate of Newton high school.

Mr. Dow was a lifelong resident of Newton. He was United in marriage with Ulas Bryan on November 8, 1963 in Newton. He was employed by the Maytag Company as a shipping and receiving supervisor for 30 years, retiring in 1997. He was a member of our Savior Lutheran Church and served his country and the U. S. Army from 1959 to 1962.

He is survived by his wife; one son, Douglas Dow of Newton; one daughter and son-in-law, Denise and Ken Reed of Prairie city; four grandchildren; one brother and sister-in-law, Stanley and Rose Dow of Newton; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Arless Smith of Newton, Carolyn and Russell Peterson of Newton, and Judy and Bob Van Sickle of Laurel; stepfather, Paul Kollasch of Lakota; one stepbrother, Kent Kollasch Sterling, Massa.; and two-step sisters, Barbara Sneddon of Des Moines and Rebecca Hulgan of Perry.

He was preceded in death by his parents. ~ Newspaper unknown, possibly the Des Moines register or the Newton Iowa daily news.
