James C. Gover
Funeral services were held from the Morgan funeral home on September 14, James C. Gover, who died at Skiff Memorial Hospital, Sept. 12, following a short illness.
Mr. Gover was born September 23, 1889 in Lincoln County, Kentucky. He had spent the greater part of his life in this community, moving to Des Moines about five years ago.
The Rev. S. A. Bullers officiated at the services.
Marion Welle accompanied by Mrs. Isaac Welle sang, “In The Garden” and “No Night There”. Pallbearers were David Welle, J. G. McMahon, Frank Illingworth, Wildman Woods, J. R. Ponder and C. Van Gilst.
Mrs. Dale Vaught and Mrs. J. R. Ponder were in charge of flowers. Interment was made in Slagle Cemetery.
Survivors include a sister, Mrs. Florida Watson, of California and a brother, Bowen Gover of Detroit, Mich., and two nephews. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, Wed 25 Sept 1946.
