Kenneth Ray Olson, age 65, of Mt. Pleasant passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, February 6, 2014 at his home.

The family will receive friends at Cheers Restaurant on Thursday, February 13, 2014 from 4 to 8 p.m. A Memorial Service will take place in Iowa at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Animal Treatment Society. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel and Cheers.

Kenneth was born on March 2, 1948 in Fort Dodge, IA, the son of Elby and Florence (Stroud) Olson. He grew up in Pocahontas, IA and graduated from the Accounting Program at AIB in Des Moines, IA, in 1968. Ken continued his education graduating from CMU in 1970 with a BA in Accounting.

Following his graduation, Ken worked for Sullivan, Page and Cassel, becoming a partner in 1974, which later became Page Olson and Company, P.C. in 1981. While working as a Certified Public Accountant, he also created and founded ICommander, a full service accounting application software. He received multiple State and National awards for accounting excellence. Ken was deeply dedicated to his profession and clients.

Ken loved to spend time with his daughters and their families. He also enjoyed playing volleyball, tennis, and was an animal lover. He will be deeply missed.

Ken is survived by his daughters, Robyn (Bryan) Friedman of Newton, IA, and Jolene (Aaron) Westwick of Overland Park, KS; ex-wife, Janice Olson of Newton, IA; six grandchildren, Isaac, Griffin, Leo, Savanna, Talia, and Graham; three brothers, Curtis (Mary Ann) Olson, Dennis (Linda) Olson, and Keith Olson, all of Iowa; mother, Florence Olson of Humboldt, IA; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Ken was preceded in death by his father, Elby Olson in 1997 and sister-in-law, Suzanne Olson in 2005.
