Mrs. Elnora Sloan Dies; Rites to Be Conducted Tuesday
Mrs. Elnora Sloan, 91, a member of The Daily News Three-Quarter Century club, died at 7:30 p.m. Friday at her home of injuries suffered in a fall down a flight of stairs.
Mrs. Sloan, a resident of Newton the past 50 years, suffered a concussion in the fall at the William Riley home, 816 North Third Avenue East, where she resided.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Toland Funeral Home. The Rev. Allan K. Williams, pastor of the Methodist church, will officiate and burial will be in Newton Union cemetery.
Mrs. Sloan was preceded in death by her husband, Orin, in 1948 and by a son, who died in 1938.
She was born Sept. 24, 1863 at Davenport. She was married to Orin G. Sloan Nov. 18, 1885, at Kellogg. She came to Jasper county in 1877 and moved to Newton 50 years ago.
