Newton Woman's Father Dies

Alex O. Schmid, 84, of Sigourney, father of Theola Groves of Newton, died Monday at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Iowa City.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the St. Mary's Church in Sigourney. Burial will be in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery.

Also among survivors are two grandchildren, Mrs. Richard (Cheryl) Moredock and Leland L. Groves, both of Newton; and two great-grandchildren, Theresa and Ryan Moredock, both of Newton. ~ The Newton (Iowa) Daily News, Tuesday, January 24, 1978
