Dr. C. C. Reinheimer Dies; Local Podiatrist

Dr. Claude C. Reinheimer, 64, of Nelson Manor and formerly of 303 W. 4th ST. S., a doctor of podiatry in Newton from 1946 until forced to retire because of ill health in 1965, died Saturday morning at the Skiff Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Johnson-Reese Chapel.

The Rev. L. H. Athey, retired Newton pastor, will conduct services. Burial will be in the Veterans section of Newton Union Cemetery. Military graveside rites will be conducted at the cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 p.m. today.

Contributions to memorials established in Dr. Reinheimer’s name at the Nelson Manor Nursing Home and the Skiff Memorial Hospital Auxiliary will be accepted. They may be left at the Johnson-Reese Chapel.

Survivors are his wife, Lucille; a daughter, Rita Reinheimer of Newton; and a son, Ross Reinheimer of Elgin, Ill.; an uncle, Va Sams of Muncie, Ind., and a number of cousins.

Dr. Reinheimer was preceded in death by his parents, step-father, a sister and a brother-in-law.

A life member of the Iowa Podiatry Society and the American Podiatry Association, Dr. Reinheimer had held every office in the Iowa Podiatry Society and had served for six years on the state board of podiatry examiners.

He was a member of the American Legion, 40 and 8, and Elks Lodge No. 1270, was a longtime member of the greater Newton Area Chamber of Commerce, had served on the YMCA board of directors and was active with Boy
Scout Troop No. 358 and had been awarded the Order of the Arrow.

Dr. Reinheimer had served in World War II with the 251st Station Hospital in New Guinea, New Britain and the Philippines and in Japan.

The son of Oliver and Loa Reinheimer, he was born Sept. 29, 1913 at Winchester, Ind., was educated in Winchester schools and was graduated in 1934 from Illinois College of Chiropody and Foot Surgery in Chicago, Ill.

Dr. Reinheimer had practiced in Hutchinson, Kan., before coming to Newton.

He was married to Lucille Harris Jan. 1, 1944 at Camp Carson, Colo. ~ The Newton (Iowa) Daily News, Monday, January 23, 1978
