Joanne Marie Kielly

Joanne Marie Kielly, 76, of Baxter passed away with her loving family by her side on Thursday, January 19, 2012 at Skiff Medical Center Monarch Wing in Newton. Visitation will be held on Monday, January 23, 2012 from 5-7 p.m. at the United Congregational Church in Baxter. Funeral services will be at the Church on Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Rollin Watters officiating. Joanne will be laid to rest with a private family graveside service in the Restland Cemetery.

Joanne was born to James and Grace (Loupee) Allan in Newton on August 23, 1935. She grew up in Baxter and graduated from Baxter High School in 1953. Shortly after school she married her soul mate and partner for life Gearold “Ike” Kielly on December 27, 1953 in State Center, Iowa. Of this union they were blessed with four loving children. Joanne raised her children then worked for Karen’s Plant Shop, in Baxter, until she retired in 2000. She enjoyed her family who were her pride and joy. The most cherished times of the year were spent together on an annual family vacation trip to Okoboji; Christmas day eating breakfast and lunch together always cooked with care by Joanne; swinging on the front porch with Ike; and playing card games like cribbage and pinochle with her kids and grandkids. Joanne also enjoyed gardening and planting flowers.

Those left to remember Joanne’s treasured memories are her loving husband of 58 years, Ike; four children, David (Carol) Kielly, Canice (Bruce) Connelly, Teresa (Randy) Fuchs, and Marty (Liz) Kielly; eight grandchildren, Josh (Heather) Fuchs, Jeff (Jennifer) Fuchs, Kristy (Ian) Winfield, Ashley (Rick) Kucera, Alyssa Kielly (Shawn Plunkett), Sarah Kielly, Hannah Kielly, and Morgan Kielly; ten great-grandchildren; her brother, Bud Allan; and many nieces, nephews, and close friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister-in-law Beth Allan, and her niece Jacki Oetker.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be directed to the family for distribution to various local charities at a later date. Fredregill Family Funeral Home, in Baxter, has been entrusted with the care of Joanne and her family, 641-227-2622.
