Deloris Berry

Deloris Berry, 90, passed away Tuesday, February 28, 2012 in Arlington, TX, where she has lived since August, 2010. Funeral services will be held at the United Congregational Church in Baxter at 2:00pm Sunday, March 4 with visitation beginning at 12:30. Fredregill Family Funeral Home in Baxter has been entrusted with the care of Deloris and her family. Burial will be in the Restland Cemetery in Baxter.

Deloris was born to Alice and Lester Halter in Melbourne, IA on March 20, 1921. She attended Melbourne schools. She married Arthur (Artie) Berry December 18, 1939 in Newton, IA and they farmed in the Baxter area. She was a 72 year member of the Congregational Church and its Women’s Fellowship as well as the Baxter Kitchen Band, Happy Hour Club and the O.D.O. Club. Deloris attended all the sporting events of Artie as well as those of her children and grandchildren. She was a hard-working farm wife where she enjoyed her wonderful vegetable and flower gardens.

Deloris is survived by four children, Jeanette (Jimmy) Holland of Arlington, TX, Dennis (Arlene) Berry of Cedar Rapids, IA, Jan (Barbara) Berry of Baxter and LuAnn (Gery) Mihelich of Arlington, TX.

Surviving grandchildren are DeAnn (Doug) Bishop of Baxter, Dana Berry of Ira and Shelley (Mark) Carson of Cambridge, IA, Brenda (Rick) Umbarger of Newton, Terry (Nikki) Berry of Oklahoma City, Joanne (Marty) Kunkel of Newton, Josie Wright of Altoona, April and Lisa Mihelich of Arlington, TX, 9 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren, a sister, Mary Clark of Melbourne, IA, brothers Max (Mary Ann) Halter of Des Moines, Larry (Sheila) Halter of Alaska, Roy Halter of Dumont, IA and Bill (Pat) Halter of Ackley, IA and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Artie, a sister Dorothy in infancy, sisters Wilma Sutton and Iva Reid, brother Kenneth Halter, grandson Scott Berry and an infant great great grandson.
