Dawn Y. Pirtle, 48, of rural Newton died on Friday, January 17, 2014. A visitation will be held from 10 A.M. until 12 P.M., Saturday, January 25, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory. Memorials in Dawn’s name may be left at the funeral home. Dawn, the daughter of Gerald Leo and Betty Yvonne (Wetherington) Bergin, was born on March 11, 1965 in Waterford, Michigan. She grew up in Michigan and graduated from Hartland High School in Hartland, Michigan. Dawn was united in marriage with Paul Pirtle, Jr. on January 26, 1991 in Iowa, where they made their home. She was a homemaker and enjoyed camping and taking care of others. Dawn is survived by her husband, Paul Pirtle, Jr. of Newton; two sons, Dustin Pirtle and Killian Pirtle, both of Newton; three sisters, Diane (Terry) Maki of Wales, Michigan, Yvonne (James) Mahan of Alanson, Michigan, and Colleen (Houston Taylor) Bergin of Novi, Michigan; her sister-in-law, Evelyn Bergin of Coral Springs, Florida; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Larry Bergin.
