Sharon Fern West, 61, of Newton died Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2014, at Park Centre. A visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday at Cowboy Church in Newton.

Memorials in Sharon’s name may be left at the church during the visitation or at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News.

Sharon Fern West, 61, of Newton died on Tuesday, January 28, 2014, at Park Centre. A visitation will be held from 4-6 P.M., Monday, at Cowboy Church in Newton. Memorials in Sharon’s name may be left at the church during the visitation or at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory.

Sharon Fern West, the daughter of Leland and Mildred (Kelsow) Thompson, was born on September 1, 1952 I n Dawson, Minnesota. She grew up in Colorado and mainly lived her life in Georgia. Sharon received a degree in Accounting from Floyd College in Rome, Georgia. She worked as a manager of a Pawn Store and Title Loan and was a member of the Oothcalooga Church in Adairsville, Georgia. Sharon moved to Newton, Iowa a few years ago and was attending Cowboy Church. She enjoyed sewing, crafting, and quilting. Sharon died at the age of 61 on Tuesday, January 28, 2014 at Park Centre. She was preceded in death by her father, Leland Thompson and mother and step-father, Mildred and Ed Bryan. Those left to honor Sharon’s memory are her daughter, Kristy West of Newton; son, Ronald West of Waukee; her siblings, Gene (Lee) Thompson of South Dakota, Frank (Betty) White of Colorado, Jim (Mary) Hewlett of Colorado, Bob Thompson of Colorado, Tom (Donna) Down of California, and Tracy (Linda) Thompson of Colorado; her granddog, Kobe; and many nieces and nephews.
