Martha A. VerSteeg of Newton died Friday evening, Nov. 22, 2013, at her home in Newton under the care of Skiff Hospice.

A time of remembrances will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 2, at Pence-Reese Funeral Home in Newton conducted by Joshua Plohocky.

A time of fellowship and lunch in the Pence Tribute Center will follow the service.

The interment will be at the Newton Union Cemetery. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News.

Biography
Martha VerSteeg, passed away Friday evening, November 22, 2013, at her home in Newton.
A Time of Remembrances for Martha will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, December 2, 2013, at Pence~Reese Funeral Home in Newton, conducted by Joshua Plohocky. A time of Fellowship and lunch in the Pence Tribute Center, will follow the service. The interment will be at the Newton Union Cemetery. Memorials have been designated in Martha's name, and may be left at the funeral home.

Martha Ann VerSteeg, 90, the daughter of Pete and Bertha (Witz) Bachman, was born April 11, 1923, in Wood, South Dakota. She was a graduate of the Wood Senior High School, and had lived in Oregon and Monroe, prior to moving to the Newton area.
On May 19, 1945, Martha was united in marriage with Wilbur F. VerSteeg in Reno, Nevada. She was employed by the Vernon Company in Newton, retiring after twenty-two years.

Martha devoted her life to her family and friends, and was a member of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church. She enjoyed making quilts and doing crossword puzzles.

Those left to honor Martha's memory include her daughter Debra (Harry) McClurkin of Greensboro, NC; her sons: Dennis VerSteeg of Monroe, Gary (Meds) VerSteeg of Newton, Randal (LuAnne) VerSteeg of Sarasota, FL, Richard VerSteeg of Seaside, CA, Thomas VerSteeg of Petaluma, CA and Michael VerSteeg of Newton; her seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; her one sister and three brothers; and many friends.
Martha was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Wilbur on June 6, 2007; her son Ronald; her grandson Eric; and her two sisters and six brothers. ~ The Pence Reese Funeral Home, Newton, Iowa.
