Joan M. (Pierce) Stevenson, 83, of Newton, formerly of Kellogg, died Saturday, Nov. 23, 2013, at her home in Park Centre in Newton.

A funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 29, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton. The family will greet friends from noon until the time of service at the funeral home.

Memorials to the Kellogg Fire Department may be left at the Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton. Memorials may also be mailed to the funeral home; please add, Attn: Stevenson Family on the envelope.

Those left to honor Joan’s memory are her four sons, William “Jay” (Judy) Stevenson of Kellogg, Tom R. (Jan) Stevenson of Farragut, Denny W. (Jane) Stevenson of Kellogg and Neal D. (Debbie) Stevenson of Columbia, Conn.; 11 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bud in 1999; granddaughter Summer Stevenson; brother Charles Pierce; and two sisters, Bernadine Brown and Gail Pierce. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News.

(Debbie) Stevenson of Columbia, Connecticut; eleven grandchildren, Chris (Rick) Clark, Lora (Kenny) Caves, Jeremy (Shawna) Stevenson, Gabe (Taylor) Stevenson, Kindra Stevenson (Curt Babbitt), Kiel (Celsey) Stevenson, Dane Stevenson, Kurt (Jennifer) Hoen, Cobey Stevenson (Kevin Brau), Josh (Kylea) Ryther and Clistia Ryther; and her 16 great-grandchildren, Kailer, Karleigh, Kaiden, Meredith, Macey, Reece, Kyleigh, Kendyl, Abel, Gabriel, Raven, Peyton, Olivia, Parker, Charlie and Jack. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Bud in 1999; granddaughter, Summer Stevenson; brother, Charles Pierce; and two sisters, Bernadine Brown and Gail Pierce.

Joan was a homemaker. She was a member of the Kellogg Christian Church. Joan enjoyed gardening, flowers, Birds and Atari.
