Virginia N. (Gauch) Bucklin, 92, of Newton, formerly of Baxter, died on Friday, Nov. 22, 2013, at the Nelson Manor Nursing Home in Newton.

A funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 26, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton. The family will greet friends from 11:30 a.m. until the time of service on Tuesday, Nov. 26, at the funeral home.

Those left to honor Virginia’s memory are her children, Bennie (Mariea) Bucklin of Baxter, Karen (Glen) Sherratt of Newton and Faye (David) Maxwell of Wasilla, Alaska; her daughter-in-law, Evonne (Rick) Whalen of Ankeny; and 16 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Ransom; son, Jerry; grandson, Bradly Bucklin and great-granddaughter, Jaryn Bucklin.

Those left to honor Virginia’s memory are her children, Bennie (Mariea) Bucklin of Baxter, Karen (Glen) Sherratt of Newton and Faye (David) Maxwell of Wasilla, Alaska; her daughter-in-law, Evonne (Rick) Whalen of Ankeny; sixteen grandchildren, Jill Maher of Altoona, Jeff Bucklin of Colfax, Jen (Cory) Robinson of Baxter, Jessica (Keith) Borman of Polk City, Jodie (Rod) Ray of Newton, Tony Sherratt of Newton, Kent (Genalyn) Maxwell of Wasilla, Alaska, Dennis (Leslie) Maxwell of Pahrump, Nevada, Deanne (Adam) Watford of Tok, Alaska, Amanda (David) Berger of Anchorage, Alaska, Patrick Maxwell, Eric Bucklin of Altoona, Aaron (Heather) Bucklin of Altoona, Melissa (Matt) Pool, Danielle (Rick) Schafer and Christopher (Allison) Pendroy; 30 great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Anna E. (Billmeyer) Gauch; husband, Ransom; son, Jerry; grandson, Bradly Bucklin and great-granddaughter, Jaryn Bucklin.

Virginia was a production worker for 33 years at the Maytag Company in Newton and she was a member of the UAW Local 997 Retiree’s Union.

Virginia loved and enjoyed her family. She also enjoyed BINGO, traveling, the Jasper County Senior Citizens, crocheting and meeting political candidates.
