David E. Bixby, Former Manger Gas Co., Dies

David Edward Bixby, 73, of 1321 Crescent Dr., former manager of the Newton Gas Co., died at 7:30 a.m. today at the Skiff Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services for Mr. Bixby, a resident of Jasper County since 1919, will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Toland Funeral Home.

The Rev. Lowell M. McConnell, minister of the First Presbyterian Church, will conduct the services. Burial will be in Newton Union Cemetery.

Mr. Bixby is survived by his wife, Beulah; a son, Hubert E. Bixby of Altoona; four daughters, Mrs. Clyde (Thelma) Dougal of Newton; Mrs. Robert (Betty) Schnathorst of Newton, Mrs. Ralph (Lenora) eams (sic) of Denver, Colo., and Mrs. Lee (Leona) Creek of Waverly; and 10 grandchildren.

He is also survived by two sisters, Mrs. Charles Edgeton of Newton and Mrs. Pearl Huff of Waterloo and two brothers, John Bixby of Eu Claire, Wis., and Russell Bixby of Rock Island, Ill.

Mr. Bixby was a member of the First Presbyterian Church.

The son of John and Margaret Caldwell Bixby, he was born, March 15, 1890 in Boone.

He was married to Beulah Seaver Aug. 30, 1916 at Des Moines. ~ The Newton Daily News, Friday, May 24, 1963.
