Ralph Reams

Ralph E. Reams, 77, of Greeley died Friday, June 11, [2003], at his home.

Mr. Reams was born Aug. 26, 1926, in Newton, Iowa, to Carl and Maude (Garratt) Reams.

On Jan. 14, 1950, he married Lenora Bixby in Newton.

Mr. Reams was raised and educated in Newton until the 11th grade when he enlisted in the Navy in November 1942. He served during World War II with the Armed Guard in the Atlantic on aircraft carriers and in the Pacific as a shipfitter. Mr. Reams was discharged in 1945 and re-enlisted in the Army in 1949 ad a medic and served until 1951. After his discharge, he worked for Maytag and then moved to Colorado in 1955, working for Western Electric, now Lucent, as a warehouseman in metro Denver. Mr. Reams retired after 30 years of service and then moved to Greeley in 2001.

Mr. Reams liked to bowl, fish and camp. He and his wife traveled after his retirement. He enjoyed the company of his family. Mr. Reams was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans and a former member of the Aurora Elks Club.

Survivors are his wife, Lonora Bixby Reams of Greeley; a son and daughter-in-law, Bob and Pat Reams of Aurora; a half-sister, Louise Lindsey of Newton; a stepsister, Mildred Breckenridge of Monroe, Iowa; two grandsons, David Glass of Lakewood and Steve McBurney of Tracy, Calif; and three great-grandchildren. Wesley, Jessica and Laura Glass of Lakewood.

His parents, two half-sisters, Juanita Mortenson and Jolene Hearl, a brother, Amos Reams, and a half-brother, Don Callison, are deceased.

A service of remembrance will be at 7 p.m. today at Allnutt Funeral Service Macy Chapel.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Staging Area A at Fort Logan National Cemetery, Denver.

Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. today at Allnutt Funeral Service Macy Chapel.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army in care of AFS, 702 13th St., Greeley, CO 80631.
