Darlene Engle, 84, of Newton died Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2013.

A funeral service will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday at the Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton.

The family will greet friends from 5:30 to 8 p.m., Friday at the funeral home.

Memorials to Skiff Hospice or to the Metz Church may be left at the funeral home. Memorials may also be mailed to the funeral home, please add, Attn: Engle Family on the envelope.

Survivors include her husband, Floyd “Donnie” of Newton; children, Donnie (Janice) Engle of Newton, Tuck (Kathy) Engle of Colfax, and Dee (Joel) Bucklin of Colfax; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson.

She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Debbie Nikkel in 1989; three brothers, Wayne, and Leo “Fatty” Thurman and Charles White in infancy; and sister, Helen Rethmeier. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News.
