LaVerne Van Zante Dies on Sunday; Rites Wednesday
SULLY – La Verne Van Zante, 52, of Rt. 1, Grinnell, a lifelong resident of the Sully community, died Sunday at the Grinnell General Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Christian Reformed Church in Sully.
The Rev. Fred Van Houten, pastor of the church, will conduct the services. Burial will be in Sully Cemetery.
Memorial contributions to the Christian Opportunity Center in Pella will be accepted.
Garden Chapel Funeral Home in Pella is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors are his wife, Ruby; two daughters, Mrs. Paul (Barbara Kay) Fynaardt of rural Oskaloosa and Mrs. Rodney (Beverly La Vonne) Van Maanen of Sully; a son, Bradley La Verne at home; five grandchildren, three sisters, Mrs. John (Leota) Blom of Sully; Mrs. Harris (Marie) Beyer of Sully; and Mrs. Case (Florence) Jansen of Lynnville and a brother, Harris Van Zante of Newton.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mr. Van Zante was a member of the Sully Christian Reformed Church.
The son of Andrew and Catherine Vande Krol Van Zante, he was born April 20, 1923, in Jasper County.
He was married Nov. 17, 1943, to the former Ruby Vander Kamp.
Mr. Van Zante had farmed on the home place.
