Amy B. McGriff Dies Saturday; Rites Tuesday
MONROE – Mrs. Charles (Amy Belle) McGriff, 95, a resident of Monroe for 62 years, died Saturday evening at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Charles (Clarice) Hoagland in Monroe.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Monroe.
The Rev. George Cottay, of Des Moines, a former pastor of the Presbyterian Church in Monroe, will conduct services. Burial will be in the cemetery in Barney.
Memorials in Mrs. McGriff’s name will be accepted. Memorials may be left at the Walters Coburn Funeral Home in Monroe.
Also surviving is a son, Patrick George, of Des Moines; another daughter, Mrs. Bernard (Alice) Hummel of Ankeny; 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers, two sisters, a daughter and a step-daughter.
Mrs. McGriff was a member of the Barney Church of Christ.
The daughter of George and Annie Wheeler Ferguson, she was born July 25, 1880 in Madison County.
She was married July 16, 1913 at Des Moines.
