Former Resident Killed in One-Car Accident in Iowa
A former Newton resident, Pamela Kay Carman, 18, of Unionville, Mo., was killed Wednesday afternoon in a one-car accident near Conesville, Iowa.
Miss Carman, who attended Newton Community High School for more than a year and resided in Newton for more than five years before that time, was one of four persons in an automobile which left the road.
The driver of the vehicle was uninjured but the other two passengers in the automobile suffered broken bones in the accident.
Funeral services for Miss Carman will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Comstock Funeral Home in Unionville, Mo., with burial at Hartford, Mo.
Survivors include her father, Charles Carman, her step-mother, Joan Carman, and two brothers, Randy and Michael, all of Unionville, her grandmother, Helen Mahl of Newton, an uncle, Gary Mahl of Newton and her paternal grandparents, and Mrs. John Carman of Unionville.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Judy Mahl Carman, and a brother in infancy.
Born in Unionville, Mo., she resided in Newton for approximately five years before the death of her mother. She returned to Newton with her father and step-mother about two years ago when she was a high school junior.
Miss Carman, who was born Feb. 22, 1959 in Unionville, was graduated from Oskaloosa Community High School last spring.

Funeral services for Pamela Kay Carman, 18 of Unionville, Mo, a former resident of Newton, were held recently at Unionville, Mo.
Among survivors, are two brothers, George and Patrick Carman; two sisters, Marcy and Stacy Carman; and her step-grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. George Boelkhe of Newton.
She died in a car accident near Conesville, Ia.
