Karmen Hawkins, 37, of Newton died Thursday, June 6, 2013, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

Private family services will be held at a later date. Memorials in Karmen’s name may be left at the Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton. If mailing, please add, “Attn: Hawkins Family” to the envelope.

Karmen, the daughter of Danny Hawkins and Sandi Vinson, was born Nov. 29, 1975, in Des Moines. She graduated from Newton Senior High School and had lived in Newton for most of her life. She had most recently worked for DeeZee in Des Moines. She enjoyed riding motorcycle and spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her father; maternal grandfather, Ted Vinson; and her paternal grandparents, Dean and Grace Hawkins.

Those left to honor Karmen’s memory include her daughter, Shayla; son, Tony; her mother, Sandi Cupples; her grandma, Elsie Vinson; her siblings: Justin (Mendy) Vinson, Jessica (Kayla) Hawkins, and Danny Hawkins; 11 nieces and nephews; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News Website.
