On Friday October 26th at 1:30, the spirit of David Beals passed to it's creator. He was at the time of his death eighty-two years and six days of age most of which time had been in Jasper county. In his prime he was an active man who was fair in all dealings and with his large family was a kind loving parent.

Funeral services were held at Ira Sunday afternoon at two o'clock and was conducted by Rev. Johnson of Des Moines assisted by Rev. Campbell.

Internment was made at Union Chapel in the presence of a large number of friends and relatives who gathered to show their respect to the deceased. Mr. Beals was a man of faith and came to the end of his journey with no fear. All of the children were present with the exception of a son Ira, who was unable to come from his home in Harrisburg, Nebraska.

The sons and daughters were: Richard Beals of Ira; Mrs. Bert Gibson of Baxter; Mrs. Huntley of Shannon City; Thomas Beals of Jefferson; Samuel Beals of Ira; Mrs. Forest Inglis of Ira; and Mrs. Belva Fuller of Altoona.
