Helen “Micky” Anderson, the daughter of Glen and Ora (Hammer) Anderson, was born Nov. 23, 1923, in Marshalltown, Iowa. She graduated from the Newton Senior High School.

On April 18, 1942, Micky was united in marriage with Carl R.W. Anderson in Newton, Iowa. She worked as a private secretary at the Maytag Company in Newton, retiring in 1984 after 26 years. Micky enjoyed the Newton Community Theatre, painting and playing the piano. She was a member of the Center Friends Cemetery Association and the First Lutheran Church in Newton.

Micky died on Saturday, April 13, 2013, at Newton Health Care under the care of Skiff Hospice. She was 89 years old. Micky was preceded in death by her husband, Carl R.W. Anderson, on June 24, 2009; a granddaughter, Stephanie Anderson; and a sister, Pat Frier.

Those left to honor Micky’s memory include her sons, Timothy G. (Jill) Anderson of Newton and Alex P. (Barb) Anderson of Baxter; her grandchildren, Kelly Anderson and Aaron Anderson; her step-grandchildren, Michael (Tina) Klemmesen, Ryan (Danielle) Tabor and Matthew Tabor; her step-great-grandchildren, Dustin and Jayden Klemmesen and Rylan Tabor; her sister, Marilyn Leydens of Des Moines, Iowa; and a special friend, Rose Marchant of Newton.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 16, at the Pence-Reese Funeral Home in Newton. Friends may greet the family during a luncheon following the service. Memorials may be designated to Skiff Hospice and may be left at the funeral home. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News Website.
