George Gibson, an old and respected citizen of this, Independence Township, passed away to his final home, Friday, July 17, 1903. He was born at Faulkingham, Lincolnshire, England, May 2, 1831. He came to the United States in 1852 and lived in the State of New York four years when he was united in marriage to Emma Davey and came to Illinois where they lived until 1868. He then, with his family, came to the home he has just passed from. Mr. Gibson was a genial, lovable old gentleman, probably without an enemy in the world. He lived long enough to reach the summit of the mountain, where he could look far beyond the valley, even into the shadow, to which he was fast approaching, knowing there was rest for him in its shade.

*Appears as Gipson in the 1912 Biographies.
