Marlin Dean Salyers, 71, passed away Saturday, March 23, 2013 at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines.
Dean was born June 2, 1941 in Winfield, Iowa to Ethel Mae (Kimmey) and Isaac Newton Salyers. After 40 years, Dean went back and received his GED. He was a truck driver for 3M and a truck and RV instructor for DMACC. He took 1st place at the trucker's rodeo and was truly a master of his truck.
Dean was former co-founder and President of IA Heartland Chevys. He had a passion for Impala's. Dean was a member of various local and national car clubs.
Dean is survived by his wife of 43 years, Hazel; 5 children, Kim, Karla, Kelli, Crystal and Daniel; 13 grandchildren; 18 greats; and special relatives Toni and Vickie.
He is preceded in death by his son, Kevin; 3 siblings and his parents.
Services will be held 9 a.m. Tuesday, March 26, 2013 at Hamilton's Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street in Des Moines. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, also at the funeral home. Private burial will follow at Laurel Hill Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the Prairie City Ambulance Service in loving memory of Dean.
