MARKS, HERWEHE, STEENHOEK, SKYKHUIS

WALTER MARKS--Guneral services were conducted at the Galesburg Methodist Opiscopal church Saturday afternoon for Walter Marks with Rev. J.B. Pritchard of Deep River in charge of the services. Burial was at Hewitt cemetery. Pallbearers were Peter Zwank, Ernest Rohrdanz, Lowell Carptenter, Marion Butin, Robert Rohrdanz and Naldo Steenhoek. Walter Marks was born in Holland, Jan 31, 1866, he came to this country when about 7 years of age with his parents, settling near Pella, later moving near Galesburg. He died July 11, 1935 at his home at the age of 69 years. On Sept. 30, 1890 he wa united in marriage to Hannah Herwehe of Monroe, and to this union were born five children, Anna, Mrs. Gertie Steenhoek, Hattie (who died in infancy) Henry and Daisy (who died Nov 17, 1929) and five grandchildren. He united with the Methodist Opiscopal church at Galesburg 40 years ago. He leaves his widow, Anna and Henry at home and Mrs. Gertie Steenhoek of Pella Five granchildren, two brothers and one sister, William and John and Mrs. H. Slykhuis of Knoxville and a large number of relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by two daughters, his parents and one sister.
