ADAM J. KLING-- Adam J. Kling, son of John and Elizabeth Kling, was born in Germany on Feb. 18, 1844 and died at his home in Sully on Oct. 20, 1930. Fuenral services were held at the Community church on Wednesday afternoon at 1:00 in charge of Rev. Thompson. Burial was in the Lutheran Cemetery. Music was furnished by a mixed quartet composed of Mrs. Stanley Wood, Mrs. C.O. Macy, W. T. Conover and Herman Kooistra, accompanied by Mrs. F. Shutts, who sang, "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere", "Jesus Lover of My Soul" and "The Old Rugged Cross". Pallbearers were six gransons; Wallace and Fred Kling, Adam Brunner, Ray Ver Steeg and Philip Vander Putte.Mr. Kling came to the USA at the age of 25 years, Locating in Jasper county. On Oct 21, 1874 he was united in marriage to Barbara Herwehe of Monroe and they lived on a farm near Galesburg until 24 years ago when they moved to Sully. Had he lived until Oct 21, they would have been married 56 years. He is survived by his widow and six children, Philip Kling and Mrs. M.S. Brunner of Newton, Albert and Adam Kling of Sully, Mrs. Ed Ver Steeg of Searsboro and Mrs. M.H. Vander Putte of Reasnor; 23 grandchildren, two great grandchildren and six brothers, George of Denver, CO, Fred of St. Louis, MO, Henry, Philip, John and Will of Newton. He was preceded in death by three sisters.
