VERNY BEULAH HERWEHE-Verny Herwehe, the youngest daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Adam Herwehe, died at the home of her parents in Monroe, Monday, July 27, after a prolonged illness. The funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the methodist Episcopal church after which the remains were laid to rest in the Monroe cemetery. Verny Beulah, youngest child and daughter of Adam & Sarah Herwehe, was born in Fairview township, Jasper county, Nov. 22, 1905, and died at the home of her parents in Monroe, July 27, 1925 at the age of 19. She graduated from the Monroe High School in 1924, but was prevented from taking the place in the Senior play and attendance at Commencement exercises by the measles, which left her in a weakened condition and her system yielded readily to that insidious disease, Tuberculosis. Every means was employed to arrest the disease--the skill of the best physician and careful nursing, but all in vain, and Monday evening at 6:00 the end came peacefully and the Spirit went home to God. In infancy, her parents dedicated her to the Lord in Baptism, and Feb. 27, 1921, she united with the Medhodist Episcopal church of Monroe. She is survived by her mother and father, six brothers, and four sisters, namely; Jacob, Stephen, Mrs. Wilbur McCauley, Mrs. Horace Oldham, Mrs. Marvin Tool, of Newton; Frederick of Des Moines; Carl, Mrs. Robert Tice, Ernest and Howard of Monroe. Verny was a beautiful girl, greatly beloved by her classmates, of a disposition, and her friends were numbered by all who knew her. Largely attended funeral services were held in the Methodist Episcopal church Wednesday afternooon, conducted by Rev. E. E. IlgenFritz. A quartette composed of Mrs. H. E. McComas, Mrs. M. I shaw, Mrs. O. M. Wilson and Mrs. J. Lea Taylor, Ruth Cash, pianist sang, "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere", and "When I Shall See Him, Face to Fact." Miss Thelma Jarnagin sand "Des Jesus Care"? The floral offerings were many and beautiful. The pallbearers were members of the class of 1924 as follows, Gerald Blackledge, Henry Delloedt, Wilbur McBride, Worth Roush, Keith Stevens and Kenneth Montgomery.
