MRS. SARAH HERWEHE--The community was shocked Monday when it was announced that Mrs. Adam Herwehe had passed away suddenly in the early morning. She retired about 10:00 Sunday evening, feeling well, about 3:00 the next morning, "she was not, for God took her". Heart failure was the cause of her death. Just eight weeks before on the same day of the week, the youngest daughter passed away, a double bereavement in so short a time. Anna Sarah Ammer was born in Monroe, Oct 22, 1861 and departed this life Sept 21, 1925 at the age of 63 years. She was married to Adam Herwehe on Nov 7, 1878 and established their home on a farm, four miles northeast of Monroe, where they resided until moving to town last spring. She was the mother of eleven children, ten of whom survive, who with the husband, mourn the loss of a devoted mother and wife. Jacob, Stephen, Mrs. Wilbur McCauley, Mrs. Horace Oldham, Mrs. Marvin Tool, Mrs. Robert Tice, Fred, Earl, Ernest and Howard; twenty-two grandcildren and one great grandchild survive, also one brother, Albert Ammer, three sisters, Mrs. Clem Hipsley, Mrs. Art Garrett and Mrs. Elton Worth. She was baptised in childhood and received into the Lutheran church, remaining a faithful Christian all through the years. Her devotion to her family was unbounded, and always ready to help where there was sickness in the community. All who knew her, loved her. Largely attended furneral services were held in the Methodist Church, on Wednesday afternoon, conducted by Rev. E.E.IlgenFritz. A quartette composed of Meadames Mark Shaw, H.E. McComas, G.M. Wilson and J. Lea Taylor, Miss Ruth Cash accompanist sang "My Mother's Prayers" "God Will Take Care of You" and "O Mourning Land". The six sons, Jacob, Stephen, Fred, Earl, Ernest and Howard were pallbearers. Interment was made in the Monroe cemetery.
