After seven long months of intense suffering Belle Eaton passed away this afternoon at 1:30 at the home of her father, F. A. Eaton, on West Main Street.

Anna Belle Eaton was born on a farm five miles east of this city, July 11, 1880, where she resided until 1897 when she moved to this city with her parents. She was taken ill with tuberculosis of the knee, which went to her lungs and her strength and vitality was finally consumed by this terrible disease. She had been bedfast for seven months during which time her suffering was very intense.

When about sixteen years of age, Belle united with the M. E. Church at Pleasantview on the Newton circuit. During her sickness she devoted much of her time to studying the scriptures and often expressed herself as being prepared for release from earthly suffering and having a desire for the end to come.

She leaves six brothers and three sisters, as follows: W. O. of this city; A. T., Kellogg; T. D., Newton; H. E., Essex; H. L., New Sharon; F. E., at home; Mrs. Geo. C. Hart, city; Mrs. G. B. Ericsson, Red Oak; Mrs. Alton Reynolds, city. Her parents, also, are both living.

Funeral arrangements have not yet been completed but probably the services will occur Friday in the M. E. Church. ~ The Newton Daily Herald, Wednesday, April 8, 1903, Page 1, Column 3
