Laurie L. Howard, 56, of Newton died on Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2013, at the Skiff Medical Center in Newton.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Monday, March 4, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton. The family will greet friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, March 3, at the funeral home.

Memorials in Laurie’s name may be left at the funeral home. Memorials may also be mailed to the funeral home, please add; Attn: Howard family on the envelope.

Survivors include her husband, Gary of Newton; children, Samara Cooper (fiancé, Nick Hansen) of Newton, and Billy (Mackenzie) Cox of Newton; many grandchildren, her mother, Mercedes Wogan of Newton; brother and sisters, Ted (Carolyn) Wogan of Sioux City, Peggy (Thomas) Fjelstad of Newton, Cyndi Ellis of Newton, and Traci Kauffman of Newton; and her many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, father, Dale Wogan; first husband, Jack Cox in 1993; and sister, Teri Bryant. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News Website.

Those left to honor Laurie's memory are her husband, Gary of Newton; children, Samara Cooper (fiancé, Nick Hansen) of Newton, and Billy (Mackenzie) Cox of Newton; her many grandchildren, mother, Mercedes Wogan of Newton; her brother and sisters, Ted (Carolyn) Wogan of Sioux City, Peggy (Thomas) Fjelstad of Newton, Cyndi Ellis of Newton, and Traci Kauffman of Newton; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, father, Dale Wogan; first husband, Jack Cox in 1993; and sister, Teri Bryant.

Laurie graduated from Milford High School in Milford, Iowa in 1975.

Laurie was a member of the Women Of The Moose #647. Laurie loved to be with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed playing board games, putting together jig saw puzzles.
