Kathianne “Kathi” (Keeley) Henry, 69, former Newton resident, died Monday, Feb. 25, 2013, at her home in Woodbury, Minn., after a long, valiant struggle with dementia.

Memorial services will be Saturday, March 2, at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Newton with the Rev. John Moore officiating. Private family burial will be held prior to services at Newton Union Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday at the church and then again following the ceremony at a celebration of life reception at La Cabana Mexican Restaurant at 2 p.m.

Memorials will be accepted to Our Savior Lutheran Church and may be left at the church on the day of the service.

The daughter of William Andrew Clements and Ruby Nichols Clements (later Keeley) was born on Sept. 9, 1943, in Des Moines. She graduated from Newton Senior High School in 1961. She married S. Dennis “Denny” Henry on July 2, 1964. She worked at Newton Manufacturing and later as an administrative assistant at Maytag. She was a devoted homemaker after her children were born but also prided herself in temporary assignments with Maytag and volunteering at her children’s schools. She was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church, was active in women’s group and served as church secretary. She gave of herself in so many ways; caring selflessly for her husband and children, devoting time to friends, and at the end of the day still having energy to dote on her backyard birds, her English Mastiff and her flower gardens.

Survivors left to honor her memory include her daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren, Tiffany and Steve Trelstad (Lauren and Brennan) of Woodbury, Minn., and her son and daughter-in-law, B.J. Henry and Christy Woodward of Denver, Colo.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 2001 and her brother in 2011.
