Thomas Leland “Tom” Rudolph, 65, of Waukee died Thursday, Feb. 21, 2013, in Des Moines in CLC Palliative Care at the Veterans Hospital.

A funeral service will be at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home in Des Moines with visitation beginning at 9 a.m. Burial will follow the service at the Iowa Veteran’s Cemetery in Van Meter. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News Website.

Thomas Rudolph, 65, passed away February 21, 2013, at the VA Hospital.

Thomas was born February 16, 1948, in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, to Clyde Thomas and Elda Virginia (Warner) Rudolph. He proudly served his country in the US Army from 1965 to 1974. Thomas married Rhonda May Smithart on August 5, 1993.

Thomas is survived by his wife, Rhonda Rudolph of Waukee; children, Thomas C. Rudolph, Johnathan T. Rudolph, Kyle Rudolph, David Rudolph, and Melinda Rudolph (Vernon Sholley), all of Omaha, Nebraska, and Chyanna Hesse of Newton, Iowa; mother-in-law, Linda Hanson of Adel, Iowa; sister-in-law, Melody (Floyd III) Kibbe; brother-in-law, Dale (Debby) Smithart, Jr.; sister, Dawn (Jim) Daniels of West Virginia; six granddaughters; one great-grandchild; six nephews; and ten nieces.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, David Rudolph; and sister, Karen Harman.

Visitation will be held from 9 to 11 a.m., with a funeral service at 11 a.m., Wednesday, February 27, 2013, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street. Burial will follow at 12:30 p.m., Wednesday, at Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Van Meter, Iowa, with military honors performed by the U.S. Army.
