Ross for many years among the leading stock and cattle men of the country, died about seven years ago. He was at one time the largest cattle breeder in Jasper county. The family lived in Des Moines a few years where Mr. Ross and son, Roy engaged in the livery business on an extensive scale. They operated the Patrick Livery barn, one of the largest in Des Moines. Since his father’s death, Roy Ross has engaged in the insurance business and he was agent for the Cedar Rapids Life Insurance company. He was married to Miss Ethelyn McCord in 1905, the service taking place at the E. E. McCord home on South Third street west.

Mr. Ross is survived by Mrs. Ross, his mother, Mrs. J. B. Ross and four children, Jack, LeRoy, David and Betty.

Although no funeral arrangements have been made as yet, the funeral will have to be a private one on account of the quarantine restrictions. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, October 18, 1912, page 1, column 3.
