After long months of suffering from some peculiar malady William H. Scribner died at his home on East Marion Street at five o’clock last evening.

Deceased was born at Homer, Ohio, April 10, 1837. He was married to Miss Sarah Stream Sept. 29, 1859 and they came to Newton in 1867. Here he was engaged in the drug business, having for some time been in business with the late Henry Kiisel. He was also for a time engaged in photography. Of late years he had retired and was not engaged in business.

One child was born to Mr. and Mrs. Scribner, but it died at the age of two years in 1865. A niece of Mrs. Scribner, Miss Ella Hymes, has since 1876 made her home with them.

Mr. Scribner had long been a church member and of late years had been identified with the Lutheran Church. The funeral will occur tomorrow afternoon at two o’clock from that church, Rev. M. L. Tate having charge, in connection with the I. O. O. F. of which deceased was a member.
