Frank, 30 year old son of H. M. McFarland, formerly of this city, died yesterday morning in Des Moines from the effect of some deadly drug, evidently given him by someone bent upon robbery, Friday evening. He has spent the evening at the home of a young lady with whom he had for a long time been keeping company and from whom he parted between ten and eleven o’clock. He was next seen when he went into a restaurant a little after one o’clock and became unconscious. He was taken home and for a time it was thought nothing serious but it soon became apparent that he had been drugged. He never fully recovered consciousness.
The funeral occurred this afternoon at two o’clock. Charles McFarland, Harry Galusha and wife and Miss Ella Hough went to Des Moines to be present. It is only a few weeks since the young man’s mother died.
